Program is designed for children 8+
Camp activities begin at 9am.
Upon arrival children will be assigned to their respective teams.
There is a 5 -1 kids-to instructor ratio.
The day is composed of three activity segments and one lunch hour.
Children bring their own lunch and we provide snacks. Weather permitting, lunch will take place in Prospect Park, where children will have the opportunity to run and play.
Pickup takes place at 4 pm. Extended days are available on request.
Parents are welcome to accompany their children in the camp's activities. Should you be interested, let us know to make the appropriate arrangements
Students learn basic skills in engineering and coding as they build and program LEGO EV3 robots to perform fun challenges. EV3 LEGO set is a sophisticated suite of building pieces, motors, sensors, a programmable computer and a custom-built software for programming. OZOBOT is a line following minirobot. Students learn the foundation of programming through the use of Ozocodes, graphic language.
We will introduce coding as a new form of fluency and self-expression. Science concepts will be introduced via educational videos, experiments and fun role-playing activities. Creating associated art objects, will help students to focus and retain knowledge. Children will choose the art media and their artistic interpretation of the science concept of choice.
Tinkering is a powerful form of “learning by doing". Maker projects are cross-curricular opportunities that allow kids to apply the science concepts. From crafting with scissors and paper to engineering with robotics or wearable computing the range of make-projects, materials and tools is broad and diverse.
Weather permitting, the children will have daily walks in the park or engage in games, gymnastics and other forms of movement.
